Lawrence Hill once again uses actual historical events as a backdrop to a fictional character. Through the main character Aminata Diallo, who was abducted from West Africa and placed into slavery, the reader travels from Africa to the Americas, in particular Nova Scotia, to Sierra Leone, Africa, and finally to England. The journey is perilous and emotional.     The knowledge contained within this text is immeasurable. Many Canadians are unaware of the country's history with slavery, and this story sheds some historical light. It is a must read for any teacher who is going to be teaching English 12: African Heritage and strong readers will wait in line to borrow it. The text should be read by teacher before sharing with students; some parts of the text are very graphic. Excellent for English 12: African Heritage, English 12, African Canadian Studies 11, social studies, and International Baccalaureate program.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Nova Scotia School Book Bureau","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":43663793193020,"sku":null,"price":17.49,"currency_code":"CAD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0662\/3677\/6508\/files\/9781443416986.jpg?v=1762969267","url":"https:\/\/nssbb.ednet.ns.ca\/fr\/products\/the-book-of-negroes-illustrated-edition-26721","provider":"Nova Scotia School Book Bureau","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
